We can't say enough about the quality of non-gmo pasture raised chicken! We've tried many breeds of broiler chickens and found over and over again that the difference is in the grass! We utilize the Joel Salatin method for rotationally grazing our chickens in chicken tractors. Every day our birds are moved to fresh grass while being kept safe from prairie predators. No only is this system great for our birds but it is great for our pasture! We can show the difference between where the birds were the year before, the grass is more diverse more palatable for our ruminants and more lush.
All poultry as omnivores require more than just grass! To supplement we feed local non-gmo feed.
At Sage River Farms we love the results we get, a happier bird, healthier meat and exponentially better tasting product.
*Our Turkeys are raised in chicken tractors until they reach 8 weeks of age, at which point we continue rational grazing in portable electric netting. This allows a larger paddock for these bigger birds who are avid foragers. We average a 20lb turkey and often have Toms as large as 26lbs.
